    Training Case Study

The Wildlife Trust was first founded as a grassroots movement way back in 1912. Fast forward to today and there are 46 individual wildlife trusts across the UK, boasting 900,000 members and 39,000 volunteers in total – all committed to protecting and restoring wildlife in the UK.

Wildlife Trusts Wales approached Oaks Digital in 2024 with the need for specialist social media training for their staff and volunteers as part of their digital transformation project.

Oaks Digital were proud to have been chosen to deliver a 4-week training course on social media with a focus on leveraging Employee Generated Content (EGC). In doing so the staff and volunteers would then be empowered to communicate their individual causes more effectively to help reach and inspire other people to take action.

It was agreed that the series of training events be delivered online over a 4-week period so that it was convenient for attendees to join no matter where in Wales they were based. This approach meant that attendees were able to action some of the points that they’d learnt each week for us to then be able to share best practice in the following session.

Some of the key topics that we had the privilege to cover the 4-weeks included:

    – Social Media Overview
    – Pros and Cons to each major Social Media platform
    – What is Employee Generated Content (EGC)
    – How EGC supports your charity goals
    – Content ideas and engagement tips
    – Utilising video
    – Online tools to help produce good content
    – Planning your content strategy
    – How to use scheduling tools
    – Measuring performance data

Mark provided a brilliant series of Social Media and Comms sessions, which were incredibly insightful and tailored to our needs.
The sessions were engaging, easy to understand and left attendees feeling excited to apply the practical tips they’ve learned. Highly recommended!
